We are pleased to announce that Russell C. "Russ" Guerin, Executive Vice President, Business Development and Planning for Carolinas HealthCare System, will be speaking at the Bourne Partners Alternative Assets Cocktail Reception on February 21, 2013.
For 25 years, Mr. Guerin has been instrumental in shaping Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) as one of the most comprehensive and diversified healthcare organizations in the nation. Mr. Guerin’s current areas of responsibility are Managed Care, Corporate Health and Wellness, Business Development and Strategic Investing. Mr. Guerin came to CHS after having worked as a senior manager for Deloitte & Touche. He joined Carolinas HealthCare as vice president, financial services, and now serves as one of the seven senior executives reporting to President and Chief Operation Officer Joseph G. Piemont.
Since 1987, Mr. Guerin has played a key role in shaping the growth strategy that has greatly expanded CHS’ footprint throughout the Carolinas. Now, with some 800 care locations in two states, CHS serves as a national model for both business efficiency and clinical excellence in healthcare.
The CHS network currently includes more than 35 hospitals, including academic medical centers, as well as healthcare pavilions, physician practices, surgical and rehabilitation centers, home health agencies, nursing homes, hospices and palliative care centers. With annual net revenue operating budget approaching $8 billion, CHS is among the largest public hospital systems in the nation.
A graduate of the University of Illinois with a B.S. degree in Accounting, Mr. Guerin later earned a Master’s Degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University in Chicago. Mr. Guerin is the Chairman of MedCost Inc. and Vice Chair of Charlotte Regional Partnership. Other Board Memberships Mr. Guerin holds are: University of North Carolina at Charlotte Foundation, YMCA of Greater Charlotte, James T. Harris Branch, Advantage Carolina, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Board of Advisors, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation, Edison National Medical and Applied Health Analytics.
